Go Green With Us

This Earth Day, we wanted to share our favorite ways to make your skincare and beauty routine more sustainable – as well as the ways that we work to do our part at Kana Skincare.

Individual Ways to Make Your Skincare Sustainable

Cut down on plastic products.

In selecting skincare and beauty products, what’s on the inside and the outside counts! The majority of plastic packaging is sent to landfills or disposed into the environment – unable to break down for centuries. Plastic also contains harmful chemicals that can damage the ecosystem and be ingested by animals and spread into groundwater.

Instead, reach for brands with packaging made of recycled, biodegradable materials or glass. Glass has a much lower environmental cost factor, as it can be recycled and is produced more sustainably.

Reuse glass containers.

After you use the last drop of your favorite skincare product, what is there to do (besides restocking)?

We love how Noelle, master esthetician and fan of Kana Skincare turned her Lavender Sleeping Mask into a candle!

Pink Lotus Essence Toner also makes a beautiful flower vase due to the frosted glass.

Another idea is to use the little jars to hold small,  easy to lose items! The Purple Rice Sleeping Mask jar perfectly holds rings or earring backs for traveling.

Combine orders.

Even when supporting sustainable companies like Kana Skincare, each online order represents a carbon footprint of transportation costs. Delivery trucks are powered by diesel, burning fossil fuels. In order to offset this impact, try to combine your online orders. If you know you’ll be restocking your favorite mask soon but you’ve also got an eye on another product – order them both at the same time!

This offsets the carbon footprint of multiple orders.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

Personal responsibility is important, but brands and companies also have a big responsibility. At Kana Skincare, we take actionable steps in every single step of our process to make our company as sustainable as possible!

Packaging & Shipping.

Kana Skincare is proud to use only recycled materials in all shipping and packaging. Each ton of recycled paper can save 17 trees, 380 gallons of oil, three cubic yards of landfill space, 4000 kilowatts of energy, and 7000 gallons of water. This represents a 64% energy savings, a 58% water savings, and 60 pounds less air pollution! All of our packaging is glass and we encourage our customers to reuse, reduce and recycle.

Commitment to Veganism and Cruelty-Free Practices.

Kana Skincare has an unflinching commitment to being a vegan, cruelty free brand. This is at the heart of our environmental impact. It has been a touchstone since the company's inception. For example, epidermal growth factor, a powerful skincare ingredient in our EGF Active Botanical Essence is traditionally sourced from animal fat. We use EGF from barley instead, honoring our commitment to building a better, greener world for the generations to come. Rather than deplete nature’s resources, we focus on nourishing the skin sustainably.

Earth Day Promotion.

This Earth Day, Kana Skincare is offering 20% off all purchases of $75 or more - plus planting one tree for every single order placed. We’re honored to support One Tree Planted, a 501c non-profit responsible for planting trees in hundreds of countries. Their efforts to reforestation are essential.  Yes, you can save on skincare and save the planet at the same time!
